APPALACHIA SERVICE PROJECT
Week Long Appalachia Service Project
ASP provides one of the most rewarding structured service opportunities in the nation — bringing thousands of volunteers from around the country to rural Central Appalachia to repair homes for low-income families. Every year, Advent sends youth & adults for a week long service project rebuilding and winterizing homes in the Appalachia Region of our country. Groups have served in West Virginia and Kentucky. This ministry now takes place in partnership with St. Simon and Jude R.C. Church. Click Here to watch the video from our most recent trip!

CONNECTING WITH SENIOR CITIZENS
Advent youth and adults go to Aventura Nursing and Rehabilitation home throughout the year, leading hymn sings and playing Bingo. Also, several members visit residents and we give gifts at Christmas time to those that do not have any visits from family and friends.
RISE AGAINST HUNGER
We host one such event, purchasing and assembling over 10,000 meals every year!
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
DVCCC
Advent has long supported the Domestic Violence Center of Chester County (DVCCC) in its mission to help victims of domestic violence become survivors. Volunteers set up and decorate a Christmas tree (in July) with envelopes for donations to DVCCC. The ministry coordinators publicize the events, seek donations from the quilting group to raffle, coordinate a breakfast thatis often combined with worship. Advent has raised over $4,000 some years for this ministry.
Quilters
This group meets monthly to sew quilts for the newly-baptized and for those going through a difficult time.
HOMELESS AND NEEDY PERSON MEALS
Annually, usually in September or October, Advent youth and adults help serve over 100 meals to food insecure individuals. We have partnered with Broad Street Ministries and Sunday Breakfast Mission.
CLOTHING DRIVES
Advent collects clothing for a number of organizations, including Veterans and One Warm Coat, in the fall. We also have a clothing bin in our parking lot to collect clothing donations throughout the year.

Take Them A Meal
If you are interested in providing meals or are in need of a meal, please contact our church office by calling 610-436-0807 or emailing Adventofficejm@gmail.com. Advent has begun this meal ministry through the website www.takethemameal.com. You do not need to register to use the website and anyone can signup to request a meal for themselves or others. The website is easy to use and self explanatory. Once the “event” (time span for the meals) is created, it can be emailed out to a group of people. The ministry is coordinated by Kathy Tubbs.
Salvation Army Kettle Drive
Advent members serve as bell ringers for the Salvation Army's annual collection one Saturday before Christmas at the Acme in West Chester.
